Shashi Tharoor has recently slammed the celebrities and cricketers who started a Twitter storm after international popstar Rihanna’s tweet in support of the protesting farmers.

The Congress leader has openly criticized those Bollywood celebrities as well as cricketers who started the Twitter storm against propaganda after Rihanna posted a tweet standing in solidarity with the farmers.
The ongoing farmers’ protests have gained international attention and many popular personalities are coming in support of the farmers. The list includes Rihanna and activist Greta Thunberg as well.
But their support is being termed as an agenda to spread hate in the country. Thus some well known Indian celebrities as well as critiquers took to Twitter to oppose Rihanna’s tweet and urged people not to fall for any propaganda.
This mail storm is being slammed by Shashi Tharoor. He called his act a sheer embarrassment.
The Government Is Responsible Says Tharoor
He has also claimed that the government has used these celebs and the cricketers as their paws in reply to the international icon which was a very bad idea.
He added that this was a very shameful and a bad move by the government to use Indian celebrities to stop an icon like Rihanna from raising her voice against injustice.
He claimed that this act has actually tarnished India’s image at a global level. The leader said that the government needs to handle the situation more skilfully and should actually listen to the plight of the farmers. Because there is no other way out.
