Kisan Yatra Denied Permission

Kisan Yatra

The Samajwadi Party under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav has extended their complete support to the farmers opposing the farm bill. And as a part of their support, a Kisan Yatra was launched from Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh.

But the state government denied the permission for the Kisan Yatra to be held. The District magistrate of Kannauj said that Kisan Yatra would involve a large number of people. And since mass gatherings may increase the risk of COVID-19 therefore it will not be permitted.

The yatra was supposed to be the launching event of a farmers march in Uttar Pradesh.

Akhilesh Yadav Protests Against The Decision

The Samajwadi Party claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government has violated their rights by denying permission for Kisan Yatra. As a mark of protest Akhilesh Yadav and other party members started marching near Yadav’s residence in Lucknow.

The Uttar Pradesh government has kept him under house arrest so that he does not go for the Kisan Yatra. This act of the Uttar Pradesh government has drawn a huge controversy especially in times when almost the entire country is standing in solidarity with the farmers.
