Former CBI Director Ashwani Kumar Found Hanging At His Residence

Ex-CBI Director Ashwani Kumar was found dead at his Residence in Shimla. His body was found hanging in his room.

The former CBI Director allegedly committed suicide at his residence on October 7, 2020.  His body was found hanging by one of his family members who went to call him for dinner. On seeing his motionless body, the family members called the Shimla police.

The police officials immediately reached Kumar’s residence and they also found a suicide note penned by Kumar before taking this step. Although Shimla police have not revealed much about what was written in a suicide note. But as per his family members and neighbours, Kumar was affected by the sudden change in his lifestyle because of the pandemic.

Some sources state that Kumar is used to having a very hectic and active lifestyle. But this pandemic has made him confined at his residence. And this, in turn, might have affected his mental health. Although thorough investigations are going on to find out if there is any foul play associated with his death.

His Career

Kumar has had a very long career so far and he started as an IPS officer in 1973. And after that, he became the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation in 2008.  He has solved many high profile cases during his tenure has a CBI director.

Apart from that he also served as the Governor of Nagaland and Manipur. Therefore his tragic demise is indeed a big loss. And is also poses a big question on how this ongoing pandemic has affected the mental health of people.

The rise in suicide cases all over the world is really worrisome because this sudden lifestyle change is posing a threat to the mental health of many. So we really need to care about the mental health of our near and dear ones. And make sure that we provide a helping hand to the people who are really struggling to cope up with the new normal.
