Egypt, Norway collaborates to work on clean energy projects

Egypt and Norway inked a project agreement on Thursday to expand their collaboration in the development of renewable energy. Egypt has been rushing to establish environmentally friendly initiatives in the run-up to the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference, which will be held in the Red Sea resort of Sharm el-Sheikh in November.

“Our nations’ strong relations are extensive, “Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt stated during a news conference in Cairo with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.
“With the signing of agreements between the Egyptian government and the Norwegian renewable energy business Scatec today, they have grown in scope.” “She continued.

According to a Cabinet statement, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly attended the signing ceremony with representatives of Egypt’s Sovereign Fund, the Norwegian Norfund, and Scatec, Norway’s top renewable energy producer.

The agreement envisions initiatives in African countries for the generation of renewable energy, green hydrogen, and the construction of green infrastructure.

“African nations are especially susceptible to climate change, and it is encouraging that Egypt has accepted the responsibility of hosting this year’s climate conference,” Huitfeldt said before landing in Cairo on Wednesday.
